I am wondering if anyone here can help me come up with a wireless remote that will activate a 120VAC contactor. I want this to be wireless, like a garage door opener or a remote for a ceiling fan. I have found a contactor with a built in 120VAC transformer but I need to find a way to apply power to the contactor via wireless remote.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis,

I used X-10 modules. I actually control my DC directly with them since it is only 1 1/2 HP and wired with 110V.

The modules that I used are at the links below:

X-10 Controlled Outlet (http://www.smarthome.com/2040.html)

Keychain and remote base (http://www.smarthome.com/4003.html)

I actually bought these at Lowe's because the prices were better. So far (about 2 months) they work great! No interference, false starts or no starts. These cost bout $35 in total. The outlet is rated for 15 amps unconditionally (so it will work for inductive loads like a DC motor as long as you don't exceed the current rating). The keychain remote is RF.
