Our Turners club went out last Saturday to salvage what we could from a Box Elder that was blown over (the root ball came out) so there was no damage to the trunk. We got some amazing color out of it. I have several more pieces to blank out still. I hope it doesn't fade too much when it dries.

Those are Ambrosia beetle stains, and are not likely to fade like the red coloration that is often a part of box elder. Very nice!

Wow - that is gonna be a great looking bowl! Nice color but I love the patterns!

Looking forward to seeing it once finished!

Very nice colors in that one.Maybe it will not turn on you. The one I made a while back is still colorful.Yours looke GREAT!!!!!!

That does look like some super nice wood. I wouldn't let any of it sit around with pith in it...get it roughed or cut into blanks and sealed well. Those are keepers!!

Geez, just noticed where pic is taken...hmmm, LOML would kill me to turn stuff in her kitchen!! ;)
