I have a customer wanting this logo engraved. Problem is low resolution and they want it lasered at about 6-7" tall.

Does anyone have this in a suitable format?

Thanks

I use a company called Vectormagic from time to time and they turn out some very good vector traces. Might work for you?

I recommend you trace/draw it yourself. Shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour and will give you good practice for the millions of times you will come across this problem. You've got to start somewhere, why not now?

Just paste the image into Corel and lock it. Then use the drawing tools on top of it to make the shapes, bezier tool to tweak. Look in this forum for many posts about how to trace. Good luck!

Customer has short time frame (needs Wed am) and I am not sure I can work in another logo. Oh well, looks like a late night tomorrow as well.

We use the vector doctor at www.vectordoctor.com

Fast service and very reasonable.

What you are looking for apparently is a Chief Petty Officer, United States Coast Guard Anchor and Shield.

I just tried Google Images...and came up with some that are higher resolution and perhaps better...some are line drawings.

Try searching Google Images (or anywhere) for "Chief Petty Officer, United State Coast Guard logo".

You may be able to save yourself some time.

Sorry, the Navy is not the same as the Coast Guard.

I have modified this file so you may want to check it against your jpeg for accuracy.

If you go into the coast guard web site they usually have a lot of the logos on there. Also be careful about trademark issues. If you are making it for a member or former coast guard member you are fine but if you are making it for someone else it is trade mark protected. I am doing a lot of work for a few military groups and ended up having to go ahead and apply for trademark license.

I don't agree with your warning about the use of military symbols. They are trademarked or copyrighted but they are for free use by the public as long as they are used respectfully and not defaced. The exceptions are the official seals of each branch of the service. Those are for the exclusive use of the government.

Mike -

Yes they can be used freely unless they are reproduced for sale to the public then the trademark licensing comes into play because I just finished a deal with the Air Force in which if I were making the items for some one else to sale I or the contracting party would have to have a trademark license and this is true with all branches, so I am in the process of finalizing trademark licensing with all branches so that there is no accidental conflict. The part on the official seal is absolutely true and can only be used for official government business. Just trying to make sure no one runs into unnecessary problems.

I personally sold items with the official Marine Corps seal on them (hardshell computer skins) and all I needed to do was send a sample of the product along with a short description of it to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. About 2 weeks later, I got a letter of approval and the product back. Free use with no licensing fees. I even got original vector files from them.

I ended up selling quite a few to troops overseas.

I'm sure other branches have similar policies.

Mike,
Thanks, that's pretty close. I might be able to modify that a little more to make it work. I will see if customer approves.

This is for a customer who is making a hat box for a member. Won't be resold, so I think I am on ok ground here re-producing it.

Refer to Wikipedia on the page where they show this insignia. Quote:

That was my own drawing to fit my needs which is why all the black was added.

That is a Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Symbol...just do a google search and you will come up with some higher resolution pics of it.
