Rabbet Plane Information

Found an old wooden, 1" rabbet plane "buried" away in the basement of my brother-in-law's home (150 year old log cabin in southern Indiana). Really in what appears to be great condition. The iron is stamped "Dwight Foster - Cast Steel". Anybody have any historical information on the iron maker ? I've hit a dead end on all of my searches.
