I have been working on other things (ornaments and scoops) and needed some pen time....
I drilled and turned these two along with a red trustone and a white acrylic. The acrylic cracked on the lower barrel when I pressed in the last peice. No way to fix it and it was the last of those blanks. The red Trustone chipped on the cap. This is the second one that chipped the same way so it must be opperator error. I now have 2 lower barrels and no caps...easy to fix, just need to get another blank and make two caps. I think in both cases I was just a little crooked when I started to press them together.

These are both Gents, pretty basic but I like turning this pen. Trustone and an acrylic I picked up locally. The tube in the acrylic is painted primer grey. They were turned, sanded to 320 and then buffed w/ EEE and WD.

That green acrylic is really eye-catching. Nicely done on both. One thing I do to prevent cracking during assembly is to use a countersunk bit to de-burr the inside of the tubes. YMMV

and a chainsaw file seems to work for me//haven't cracked one in a long while.
