Hi, I'm looking for a pattern for chair similar to this. Unsuccessful so far, can anyone point me in the right direction? Free is good, but I'd be willing to buy a reasonbly priced plan.
Thanks
Scott

I thought a director's chair is one of those cloth-backed things? That looks more like a deck or beach chair...

It doesn't seem tall enough to be an umpire's chair but, as has been pointed out, a director's chair is foldable and portable.
You might have a tough search ahead of you:(

i searched for director chair plans a while back to make one for my sister who is a teacher.
i found this: http://www.thewoodcrafter.net/proj/p46.php
not the best guide but it was all i could find. never ended up making it though...
i dont think the chair in your attached picture would be called a director's chair though... kind of reminds me of a life guard chair except shorter

That looks like an Adirondack chair.
I think you could get a good plan for an Adirondack chair and without to much work make longer legs for it.
Lee Valley has a really go Adirondack chair plan.

Yea, I suppose it's not really a director's chair, that's what it was referred to on the site where I found that picture.
Bill, I built a couple of those LV adirondacks and I thought the same thing, but I don't think the reclining nature of an adirondack would work well for a taller chair. I suppose with some trial & error the pattern could be modified to make it work, I was just hoping to find something that's ready to go. Seems to be a fairly unique design though.
