First time I have had the pleasure of working with Paduk, and I like it:D Season opens here saturday so I am anxious to see how my calls do for those that have them. A bit early for buck grunting but the fawn bleat will draw the Does in

That's lovely. Padouk is one of my favorite woods although I have yet to turn any. This might inspire me to try some. Now go call yourself some padouk!

Thanks. I really did not expect it to be that red but glad it is! I forsee another order of it to make sure I have plenty on hand.

Really nice!!! Ken, you keep this up, and I will have to be making some calls! I turned a few goose calls with a friend 2-3 months ago - kinda fun.

John, I think the fun in duck and goose calls is the actual making part of the insert and tuning the sound. I cant do that but have fun turning the barrels.

Beautiful. I love the coloring of paduak, but I've never come across anything bigger than 4/4. Glad to see you haven't abandoned calls for bowls and vases.:D

Haha, no!!! I had to get back on calls to fill orders so the bowls have to wait now that some wood has arrived:D

It will be non stop until after spring turkey season!

Very nice call Ken!

I love padauk! I've turned a few bowls in padauk and the color is amazing! Just watch out for the dust, it likes to stick everywhere and when it gets on your clothes if it gets damp/wet it turns orange, pink and purple, and it stains. I now have 2 dedicated padauk turning shirts.
Here are pics of the 1st two I did in padauk, dont have a pic of the 3rd one (which is the best in form and the 2nd biggest at about 7 1/2" x 2").
The 1st is about 6" x 2", the 2nd is 8" x 3 1/2" (lighting in the pic is bad, it's actually not that dark). I got the blanks from Woodcraft, the store in my area usually has a good selection.

That is a standout color Ken! Almost seems unnatural.

Padauk is one of my favorites, and calls like that are the reason why Ken. Nice looking finish on it too!

Thanks. I am kinda of disappointed, it appears to be loosing that brillant red it displayed when first turned and finished:( It is still red but nowhere near what it was...is this normal for this wood?
