I find myself inspired by an on-line friend, Don Leydens. Don has quite the life story and has of late been producing some cool bowls with textured, colored and beaded rims. I have been so taken with them that I have started playing around a bit with rim and foot treatments myself. This piece is White Oak with a triple bead at the rim and a beaded foot. The black bug-art was free of charge. 12x2 and finished with AO and buffed.

Bill, I like that shall form, and the rim treatment is a very nice touch. Love the oak - lot of character!

Good looking bowl! Interesting detail work on the rim! Looking forward to seeing where the embellishing experiments take you!

Bill that is a good looking bowl. I like the rim treatment, simple shallow form and the finish looks great.

Very very nice William. Oak is always a winner to me. BTW how did you bead the edge, beading tool or detailer?

Nice work. I have a lot of trouble getting clean details in oak:(, but you don't seem to have that trouble.:)

James, I generally use a homemade 3 point or pyramid tool...Bill...

Don is a great guy who has definitely seen his share of tough times. I find his work to be very interesting, and have many of them on my "favorites" list. Nice job here.;)
