A lady who has purchased some pieces from my local gallery called and asked for a Cherry bowl. She wanted some kind of treatment to the rim and a tough shiney finish that she could just wipe the peanut oil and dust from rather easily. For the rim she asked for some sort of darkenning and texturing but did not want to fuss around cleaning out the dust and grime. Here is what she got: A black cherry bowl 8x2 with 6 coats of gloss poly and buffed. The rim was tinted with Red mahogany stain and textured with a dremel tool. After all the poly coats the texturing is filled in but still visiable. She was happy with it and now wants 6 more bowls for Christmas gifts but turned from that white wood with the black lines in it (spalted Maple).

Another great looking bowl William. Did you give a discount for the multiple order?

I'd say she definitely got her 'tough and shiny' finish. The slanted rim and detailing really makes this one for me.
