Together with my friend Adriano we made a 3d turned puzzle. The pieces are made of 2ch high wall nut. Some have three layers of obnoxious shapes, making it mind boggling to assemble. But the turning was another challenge as the rotation of the lathe dismantled every thing.
The globe is about 14" in diameter.
Continents are painted with acrylic, the borders are designed with a kind of coloured glue that is sold in small tubes.

Claude, another amazingly complex situation! Who thought up the internal design for this thing???

What imagination some people have. It's enjoyable watching, I can't imagine the time that went into the layout...or I may be over-thinking it.

Hmmm...
Nice piece of work and video!

Claude, I was just mesmerized by the work and planning that wnt into the creation of the puzzle globe! You have given me another thing to put on the "Bucket List" for turning, that I want to try before I can't do it any more. My hat is off to you and your friend for such passion in creating a wonderful and intriquing piece of art!

Thanks for the inspiration,

Jeff

Thank you very much to all of you.

The 3d design of the pieces is a progressive and collaborative effort. We wanted pieces that went up, other laterally, even one which have to be inserted diagonally (but this is an accident), other on three level, other only two... and of course a niche to put something inside. We have been cutting quite a large number of "draft wood" prior to make the pieces in walnut.
