A very dear friend of mine lost her son earlier this month and I've been helping her clean out some of his stuff. He had a large pile of antlers that he had found and harvested over his hunting career she gave me to use for turning projects. I am making two pens like this for her and her daughter, and plan on making a few slime lines for her daughters two girls. I've never made anything more than a slimline so I was pleased with how this one turned out.

Very nicely done and a nice tribute. What kit is that?? It looks like a majestic with the crystal in the clip but not sure I seen that center band before. Thanks for showing

Jack, nice job there, with the pen and your friend's family. You cannot buy those kind of "deep connections" at Walmart. Hope it helps them deal with their loss. And yours.

Thanks everyone. John it is a majestic jr. from Pen State. They have a deal where you get the bushing, drill bits, and trimmer bushings for free with the first kit so it saved me a little. I have to say that the kit is first rate. I can see making a few to sell in the future.
Thanks again everyone,
Jack

Jack,
Doing things like this mean more than any amount of money or recognition we may aspire to achieve. I'm sure it will be appreciated and cherished always.

Jack, Like has already been said, these types of turnings are why we do what we do. I have seen such great appreciation for our troops by fellow turners and you are no exception. You have done yourself proud and these small but very personal tokens of rememberance will always keep the memories of her son close to her heart. As a veteran and a father of a son in the military these type of posts mean a lot, God bless you and all that know the reason why we fight for freedom around the world.

Thank you for sharing this,

Jeff
