I picked this up in a shop today. The owner had a lot of tools and this was in that area. He had no idea what it was. Can any of you help?
I bet someone here can help.
(I'm kind of thinking tooth set for two man timber saw?)

It is s saw set.It looks pretty old due to the handle forms and the little decorative groove filed next to the joint of the handles.

George, was it used on a regular size saw do you think? I can't figure out what the screw was for.

The screw sets the amount of bend you put into the tooth. Rest the saw plate upon the end of the screw each time to put an even amount of set into each tooth.

If the little fence moves, set it much closer to the tip of the Vee shaped jaw to keep it from going beyond the root of the tooth, and distorting the saw's plate.

Sort of primitive, but it's a pretty old tool.

Doesn't appear to be a saw set for a regular handsaw. Too big and clunky.

It could be for a larger type of saw. I didn't see the scale of the tool, and still can't .

Its similar to a Leach's patent saw set. I have one similar to it somewhere in my maticulously filed tools over in the corner box. LOL
