I really should be on the road headed to my next assignment, but I wanted to throw up #3 before I rolled out. 6" x 2" with a wipe of BLO

I think i'm getting the sides down (thickness) but still need to work the bottom a bit closer. Thanks for looking:D

Looks like the learning curve is gonna be pretty short for you. You're off to a great start. I like the form on this one.

Ken, as I look at this bowl I am taken by the way the form and finish brings out the richness of the walnut in a very striking way. I'm not sure exactly why but I view this as one of the top walnut bowls I've seen. Good job on this bowl. I would like to see larger pics in future to better view the detail. Thanks for posting.:)

I love the bowl, Ken! Walnut is really fun to work with. When are you going to turn the piece of maple(?) you had the bowl sitting on for the photo? that looks like a cool piece of wood.

Thanks everyone.

That piece under the bowl is a natural center bowl, I did not feel like bragging but I geuss the secret is out now...it will be a new trend:D You guys and all your natural edge stuff LOL! you have to think outside the box:p

Ken, Nice bowl and you are on your way to the depth of the turning addiction with the rest of us! You will get the hang of getting the curve to flow in the bottoms of bowls, but the way you left this one works as it follows the flow of the outside of the bowl. When I first say the pictures, the light and dark of the wood and how deep the hues are it looked like some type of rosewood, very lovely wood.

Keep at it and it will all gel together, I do see some tool marks on the inside, and that to will become a lesser problem as your skills and perfection mode kicks in more and more. I am never happy with the end result, but no one but me usually sees what I call flaws anyway!

Have a great day,

Jeff
