Recently I've been shopping around for a refurbished Stanley 39 (3/4") as a user, and I'm asking if someone would kindly recommend a reputable refurber to search with. Thanks.

Walt at Brass City Records & Tools. Sydnassloot. Patrick Leach. John Zimmer (?) are dealers. They'd be likely to sell you a good user with no issues. I know a lot of people don't like combination planes but if you're looking to cut a dadoe, it might be easier to find a No. 45 or 45-alike. Or you could cut a dadoe with a router plane.

If you are looking for a single size, get a wooden one. I think they are more comfortable, personally. Or, make one. those are pretty easy to make.

If you are stuck on the 39 though, Jonathan McCullough is right on about those dealers. You might also post in the classifieds section here on SMC. My experience with Creekers has been very positive.
