A friend dropped this off this morning, and I just want to make sure I am cutting this right. Basically cut the burl off and allow a bit of the main trunk to remain for the time being, anchorseal etc.

Then cut it up for whatever I would like and allow to dry or turn green for a bowl correct? I know for the call blanks I use I can just get it open, cut to size (2x2xwhatever) and dry

Any comments or suggestions much appreciated!

I do what you said. Is that oak? If it's oak, I'd rough it green and seal it or cut it into smaller blocks and seal them... I haven't had much luck keeping oak from checking when left in big pieces.

Maple

It was not a very good burl, had a void area but I can get some call blanks from it I think. Its sitting beside the bandsaw awaiting me now LOL:D
