If you have trouble with this you really should try the shellac from Homestead. I have to shoot some today and dropped a pound of flakes into 1/2 gallon of regular old BORG DNA about 20 minutes ago and it is already about 1/2 dissolved. Noticing that made me recall some of the posts I have seen here with some having to wait days or more and thought I would post this in the event it helps anyone.

I am not affiliated with Homestead in any way but they sell wonderful shellac. I have used quite a lot of it and never been let down.

There is an interesting article in the new issue of Fine Woodworking on how shellac is harvested, cleaned, and made ready for your use. Check it out if you are around a newsstand

Larry:

I did not see your post until after I made mine asking about shellac not disolving. I will certainlly look into using Homestead. If you get a chance to look at the post I just made you may be able to answer some of the questions about why mine won't disolve.

Thanks for the lead on Homestead
