Hello all. I posted a gloat and tip on some walnut available in the Seattle area about two weeks ago. I went back last Sat. The ad is still on Seattle Craig's List, now under materials: "American Black Walnut Slabs - (http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/mat/1975339400.html) $3 (buckley)".
Any way I found the barn had been straightened out a bit with a light put in overhead where the slabs are stacked. I went back out to check out what 5/4 material is available. Although I did get two 20X60 inch slabs my main find was a 24" X 12' slab two inches thick. There are a couple dozen slabs left at least, just a few in the thicker than two inch size. They are relatively but not absolutely knot free and almost 100% dark wood.
I believe this is a good chance to get some larger Walnut pieces at the best price I've seen, my only reason for posting.
