First of all I want to say a thanks to all of you who responded to my question on finishing the baby rattle I made for my grandaughter. I took your advice and went to the WC store to see what I could find. I did find a product that met the need that I had. It is called "George's Club House Wax". It is food safe and formulated (combination of double filtered bees wax and mineral oil) specifically for cutting boards, rolling pins, salad bowls etc. It is relatively inexpensive - $5.99 for a 4oz. container which lasts a pretty long time since you need only a little at a time. In the reviews I saw that others had used it succesfully for baby toys also. So if you are looking for something food safe you may want to look into this. Once again thanks.
