Hi everyone,

This is my first posting to your forum, and it seems that you guys know what you are talking about.

I am interested in buying olive wood, to use for several different projects, but cannot seem to find anyone who sells it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Welcome to the Creek hope you enjoy the time you spend here.
It's kinda a big freindly family.
What kind of Olivewood are you wanting and how much do you need?
There are several kinds of Olive wood and places to buy lumber at.

Here is a great source:

Look over their web site and if you don't see what you want, send them an email. They will respond. They have a good reputation with customers, I am one very satisfied.

Thank you for the quick replies.

I guess I did not realize that there are different types of olive wood. I just know that I have seen products made from it and love the look and character. I am planning on making a picture frame as my first project, and therefore the boards need to be at least 3 feet long, 3-4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick.

I am looking for as much character and flames in it as possible.

There is some listed on Ebay that you would have to resaw but would work. The folks over at Bethelham Olive Woods are great but you do not want to get anything this big from them. They are into things like pen blanks and other small items. We have real nice Olive wood right here in the USA.

Like Mac said try: http://www.bethlehemolivewood.net/index.htm . They are great folks to deal with. I highly recommend them. There is "olive wood" from various parts of the world. Beware of some sources which peddle Russian olive wood which does not compare to that from Israel.

I recently did a craft show (a couple weeks ago) and the products I had from Bethlehem olive wood from the source above were the best sellers I had (pens, crosses & crucifixes.
