I'm laser engraving delrin with good results. I want to save a few bucks on material and went to a site selling acetal - I'm thinking same material - delrin being Duponts trade name, acetal a generic name. On the site it listed acetal as being flammable??? I never even considered delrin as a being flammable, thought never even crossed my mind. So is anyone lasering acetal? Is flammability a concern???

Wood is flammable... most of the plastics we engrave are flammable... so what?

I just did some seals for embossing and used both white acetal and the black DelrinŽ. I found the white acetal to be very difficult to get a mark onto; not so with the black DelrinŽ. I don't foresee my using white acetal anytime soon. No flames on either. IMHO

To take that one step further... With the exception of rock, metal and glass, mostly everything we engrave is flammable - it wouldn't engrave otherwise.
