Well, here she be. Dried down to 12 percent with no cracks or major warpage. The collar is Brazilian rosewood burl. Finial/lid is pink ivory with an ebony detail at the top. This one was a "labor of love" since I was making it for my wife Rose for her birthday. But that's not for almost another two weeks and I'm not that patient so I gave it to her today.

David - you should be very pleased with this one! Love the heart shape to the form, the details on the finial and the woods used! Your wife will love this!

Excellent work! Thanks for sharing!

Nice going, David. What are the dimensions?

"What are the dimensions?"

Oops, sorry... I always forget that! It's just under seven inches "square" and tops out at nine tall including the finial.

Very nice turning, David! A most unusual piece of wood, with great figure in it. Your finial has your signature on it for sure, and I think it is great that you got the drying process right and do not have cracks.

I only hope to learn more about drying processes like DNA, etc. and utilize them as I go along.

Very, very pretty hollowform. I'm guessing Mrs D was "tickled pink".

Very nice David. The color orientation is quite striking.

I hadn't thought of pink ivory for a finial. I have a few pen blanks of it. Have to try one when I do a HF of the right color wood to go with the pink.

The struggle about how best to orient the grain of this piece has paid off in spades. This one is the 'Cream of the Crop'

Very nice work David. You sure got the hang of this spinny stuff pretty quickly too.

Great job.

David, this one came together very well. I have enjoyed the two prior threads beginning with the decision on grain orientation, and you have made good decisions all along the way. The collar is a very nice addition, and the overall impact of this piece is great!

Good work!

Thanx for all the comments. I'm actually pretty happy with this except that I'm rethinking the finial a bit. I have more pink ivory and I might take another pop at a more "refined" finial...
