Here is a picture of the finished vessel or urn that I posted a tutorial on. I added a few more pictures showing turning the base off. The vessel is curly maple and black walnut with a 6" diameter and 12 1/2" tall, 56 pieces. Due to the height/width and the thicknes of the stave blank (3/4") the sides are a little straighter than I would have liked, but there are limitations to how thin you should turn when glue joints are involved. I added a picture here not on the tutorial - a close-up of the top showing a very small embellishment on the very top.
The tutorial is on my club's site at http://tcwoodturners.org/howto/staved. Comments and cirtique welcome as always.
