My neighbors across the street planted their first garden this summer. They have been very generous and we have had a steady supply of fresh vegetables and tomatoes all summer. Last summer they had to take down a sugar maple, needless to say some of the tree found it's way to the side of my garage.
So to say thanks for the vegetables I thought I would turn them something out of their tree. This was a piece of crotch and unfortunately the inclusion went way deeper than I anticipated. So instead of the firewood stack, I just laced it up.

Excellent recovery. I like that Mark. I am sure the person who owned the tree will too!

Very nice bowl Mark, not just a bowl, but a special bowl with the lacing added, looks .
I'm sure the bowl will be appreciated, nice gesture on your part, funny thing is I've been working on a Black Walnut bowl that had the pit of a branch going up the side and yes you guessed it :(, it started to split so I did the marking and drilling and part of the lacing, though not finished with it yet, I hope it will be looking as good as yours, thanks for showing :D

Neat bowl, and I like the lacing. Great idea that I may copy on a Bradford Pear bowl I'm making for some nice folks who gave me the wood.

What a great way of making a defective(?) bowl look special. I will have to file away that solution!

Nice work Mark! Pretty wood, nice form and I really like how you rounded the lip of the bowl! Laces are a nice touch and makes the bowl unique!
I am sure your neighbors will love the gift! Thanks for sharing!
