Great looking pen, Joe. I'm slowly growing to like the Worthless Wood pens and yours really pushes me along that direction. I have never seen a Gent in person. I have made some Jr. Gents. Is this quite a bit larger?

Joe Joe Joe...please, occasionally come up with something mediocre, just so us neophytes can have a reachable target to achieve to!!

Outstanding use of the resin in the burl and contrast with the pen finish.

Very nice.

Is the cap filled with the same resin, as it appears? How is that done if so? I've not done the Gent pens...so am not familiar with any cap options.

Very pretty combination of materials and your transitions look absolutely perfect. Nicely done.

Gah! Just when I think I'm getting the hang of pens I see this!!

I'm sure there's a flaw somewhere, but I doubt humans could find it. Absolutely fantastic.

The full-sized Gents are huge! Check out these pics for size comparison with some other popular pen styles:

Thank you, Tim. I knocked out the kit gold finial, and turned my own from a cutoff from the same pen blank and epoxied it in place.

Great looking pen, I have a several similar blanks that I need to turn. How did you finish it? Normally I finish resin pens by wet sanding through 12000 MM and then using plasti-polish and I finish wood pens by sanding through 600 and using a CA/BLO finish. I havent quite figured out how to finish a combination of the two yet.

I wasn't entirely happy with the last hybrid pen I finished, but this one came out well. Here was my process:

1. dry-sand through 12,000 MM
2. lightly buff with white diamond in resin sections (to remove any remaining scratches)
3. wipe down with CA accelerator to remove lingering white diamond compound or sanding dust
4. 6 coats of thin CA
5. level finish with 400 and 600 grit
6. wet-sand with 2400 - 12000 MM
7. lightly buff with white diamond
8. apply plastic polish and buff with "wax" wheel

Escellent work! I saw some of those blanks and they're not cheap..I was wondering how they would look. Very nice. And as usual your pics are outstanding.....I copied your process from a response to JK and just need to figure out what the heck it all means... I am NOT the photographer in my family:o
