Could use a charger/ starter in the shop. Looking at the two linked below. It would be used for car/ truck (F150/F250) Zero Turn mower and such.
Is this unit big enough? Too big? Not sure what is needed in a charger.

They both are rated a 200 amp start so I think I would go with the Northern one. I have a 200amp unit I bought from sears back in the 70s and it will almost start my Ford tractor that had a dead battery. It will start My F 350 with no battery.

I use Battery Tenders for maintaining the charge on my batteries for my '72 El Camino SS, streetrod, fishing boat, and lawn tractor. Inexpensive and they won't overcharge your batteries.

I actually have an older version of this:

I like the smart chargers. They prevent the boiling off of the batteries if you leave the charger on. I keep my boat batteries on chargers during the winter months to keep them fresh, rotating the charger from battery to battery about once a week. Takes longer then I care to admit to completely cycle through all the batteries I have to care for....

I've got one like what Marty posted that has a start function. Mine has the Vector brand name on it which SB&D owns because I've seen them in the B&D outlet store. I've used it once in the past when I ran the battery down on a truck and it worked fine--but it wasn't totally dead. Just charge on high for a couple minutes, swtich to start and go. Its got a desulphurizing (sp?) function that the place that sold me the deep cycle battery for my sump pump said is a good idea every 6 months or so. Its a lot smaller, lighter, and more portable than the ones you are looking at and I bet you would find it would meet most any need you have.

Thanks to everyone. I will have a look at the smaller units. I was not sure what size I would need to start a dead battery
