I have some 1.5" square 8' lengths of Ironwood, that are normally sold for making decks, but I like to make chisel handles from them.

What would be nice is if I could chuck pieces right into the 3 jaw chuck on the metal lathe, and not mess with the 4 jaw chuck.

When I tried to cut the square cross section into a hexagonal cross section, I found that it was a bit of a puzzle for me.

The answer I worked out was to:
1) Set the table saw blade at 30 degrees.
2) Set the fence from the blade 2/3 of the square width.
3) Rip and turn end over end.
