I have an old box of turning blanks from 25 years ago. I just pulled this one randomly out and thought it was oak. But as I found out, it's not. It cut very well and cleanly. It's about 3 3/4" wide by 2 1/2" tall and finished with several coats of J&J wax. Comments invited as always. And opinion as to what it is. Apologies for the pictures. The light did not brighten the wood enough, it's a little lighter than the pictures show.

Really nice wood. If it is lighter than the pics, that opens up some other possibilities, but it does look like mulberry.

Nice work on this one, Josh.

Looks pretty good Josh! Also - nice finish! That power sanding seems to be paying off!

Nicely done. I like the overall form and finish, but the little ripple near the foot doesn't fit for me. It sure is pretty wood whatever it is.
