This is my second post of a project I've done for Vicki Jordan's "The Voice of the Beloved Tree" project For Creekers that haven't heard of this project, a large sugar maple had to be cut down from in front of the house Vicki was raised in. This home went back 5 generations in her family. To help preserve the memory of her beloved tree that she and her family climbed and swing in as they grew up, she and John sent pieces of the tree all over the world to have turners turn projects from it and send back pictures of the creations to make a memory book of her tree. It was a great honor to be considered for this project, and I tried to make the bowl a special one. It is 7" in dia. by 4" high finished with deft.

Jack, I am familiar with the project, and you certainly have been honored to be included among a host of great turners! Beautiful work, and a very nice piece of maple, too.

Thanks everyone. I usually don't feel pressured when turning, but knowing that big name turners from around the globe were turning pieces from this tree made turning it and sanding it a little pressured for sure. There have been some truly amazing pieces created from this project. Here is a link to the gallery where they are shown. I hope the link is allowed, but if not John or Steve please take it off.
Thanks Again,
Jack

That is very touching.

When I make wood items for my family at Christmas time I only hope that when I am gone they will still have it and look at the item and remember who made it. I have 2 daughters, ages 14,15, and I try to make them as much stuff as I can and only hope they pass it on to there young ones..
