When your table saw is not in use do you leave the fence locked down or do you relieve the tension on it?

Marshall,

Someone would need to make a pretty good argument to convince me that it matters. I expect I could come up with dozens of items that are left in more tension, and with far more consequences if some kind of failure was to take place. Wheel lugs, for example. I wouldn't get too tensed up about it.;)

If you leave it on, you can't accidently slide it into a moving blade. DAMHIKT! :(

Thanks.

I was just wondering if leaving the tension on all of the time would eventually weaken the fence locking mechanism and keep the fence from holding firm when ripping.

Dave - I won't ask but if you want to volunteer the information then I'm sure there are some of us who would like to hear the story. :D

Most of the time I leave it locked and leave it in place where I last used it, Haven't seen any problem.
