I've been on the road non stop it seems (PA-VA-TN-NY....then to IN this weekend and back to TN next weekend) so needless to say I havent had a ton of free time. I did manage to knock out a few new turkey calls this week.

(L) White Oak Crotch and (R) is American Mohagany or so im told. Local mill had some and let me try a few pieces.

Ken, those are beautiful!! Not sure I am familiar with American Mahogany (South American perhaps?) but that piece sure has a much more prominent grain than any mahogany I have seen. Nonetheless, it is a strikingly pretty piece of wood.

The oak is really nice, as well, but I am drawn to the darker woods most of the time - except curly maple!!:D

I figure she meant South American but seeing all the hubbub about the Border, it might have been a verbal boycott thing LOL!

I like the darker stuff also, however the grain and different things going on with the lighter wood is incredible...I just cant capture it on film...atleast not without breaking out macro lighting and lenses haha!

WOW - great looking wood on both calls! Really like the rich color in the American Mahogany! Nice work!

Nice looking calls where do you get your supplies to make them. I would like to try one. I just made a striker for my store bought call and would like to try to make the call.
