Hi Everyone,

I am located on the West Coast of Canada and am having difficulty finding bulk carbon for a scrubber. The prices from aquarium stores and such are high. Anybody know of a Canadian supplier for bulk carbon? Or if it's practical to order it from the US?

Thanks .... Frank

Find someone local in the environmental remediation business, they use activated carbon all the time in treatment systems for organic vapors. They should be able to put you in touch with a supplier. Search activated carbon on the internet.

When I contacted http://www.calgoncarbon.com/
most of their 44lb drum stuff was on the East Coast at $3.50USD/lb

On the west coast, it was 11,000 lb super sacks.
Not sure about Canada though.

Try Canada Colours and Chemicals..

I used to buy from them to pack compressor air purification systems for use in the diving industry.
Activated Charcoal (Activated Carbon) would come in 10 and 20 lb cans. They have it listed in the product search

From what I have heard you should not buy carbon from an aquarium store, since the activated carbon used in aquariums is different from the one used to scrubb air.
