Anyone know where to get one of these? It's a giant Phenolic framing square. I saw them about a year ago somewhere but can't seem to find one now.

Joe,

If you can't find one post in the CNC Forum. Anyone with a CNC Router could make you one easily. I have made a number of very large triangles for my shop, they are invaluable for some jobs.

Woodpecker was making and selling them. I'm not sure if they still are.

I have seen them at woodcraft in Atlanta. I don't see them online.

They seem to have disappeared from all stores and websites. Must have been a flop.

I think I got mine at Woodpeckers. I have been happy with it and it was handy when making face frames and cabinet boxes. I have a bigger one out of aluminum that folds up that I use for squaring up cuts on sheets of plywood (to hold my Festool guide square to the edge). You can never have too big of a square!!!

I don't have a source for that big square either...but, if you are needing
an accurate square for doing layout work, why not use a drafting T square?
A drafting square is a better choice in most cases and is an instrument that
can be relied on time after time, a framing square is not all that accurate.

I have seen big framing squares adjacent to sheetrock sales shelves in the big box stores.

Personally, I find framing squares best for inside marking. If you want something to do large cross cut marking like the guy in the picture, then IMHO a better solution is a drywall T-square. They allow for better registration along the edge.

Not sure if it's big enough, but I just bought a Woodpecker 18" speed square that's massive. I got it from Carbide Processors and think they may have one or 2 left. Call Emily at 800-346-8274
