Found this on Craigslist a couple of days ago. I was surprised to find that it hadn't been sold, so I got off the phone, did not pass go, and went straight to the sellers shop.

Hammer B3 with scoring, tilting shaper, six foot slider, 3 phase 5HP x 2 and mobility kit for exactly $1000.

Oh, and it's all in working order.

Here's a good opportunity... I've looked at loads of shaper pictures but what are they used for? Are they simply beefy router tables?

In a really general way yes. They use different cutters that are heavier designed for slower speeds and are (can be) MUCH more powerful than even the biggest production router motors. The tilting spindle opens all sorts of other doors as well.

Good God man!! That is insane!!!

"3ph 5HP x 2"... is that one 5hp motor for the saw and one 5hp motor for the shaper? And how do you plan to supply the 3ph?

Yes, it's got two separate motors. I've already got 3 phase service.

Thats a sweet machine for the money, any idea of the year it was made??
I'm assuming a new one would be between 6 and 7K

Don't you know that the Euro stuff is crap?

First you let it into your workshop and it acts innocently enough.

Then when you're not there, it talks all your other machinery into going metric.

As a further act of treachery, it convinces all the other machines not to run if the guards aren't in place.

Finally it sends out for Felder, Hammer and Aigner catalogues so you wind up spending all your available cash on cool goodies for the machine.

Save yourself that anguish and sell it to me.:D

Seriously, that's one great bargain.........Good luck with it and enjoy.......Rod.

I'm assuming a new one would be between 6 and 7KA similar model lists at ~$12k today and that is before you add the scoring attachment or motor upgrades.

I received one in April, it was about $9K including taxes and delivery.

Mine has the upgraded fence with micro adjust, Canadian electrical system etc so it's a bit more expensive than the standard version.

The longer sliding table adds about $1K, so that brings you to $10K in Canada, less in the USA.

Regards, Rod.

That would be similar to calling a tri axel dump truck a "beefy pick up truck". They may both haul rocks, but the similarities pretty much end there, and the pick up is generally easier to park and drive.

Hey, great deal on that Hammer! Man I'm envious of that. I'd probably have gotten a speeding ticket getting to that sellers place! Enjoy that!

I say you get rid of the picture to make people think you got the brand new model. Then I'd be crying instead of sobbing.

It's hard to even find a 5HP shaper for $1000... and you got a slider out of it.

May I ask how you transported it?

He's already made some hard men weep. I am so filled with joy at the great find of a fellow creeker....and why the bleep bleeping bleepity bleep bleep doesn't anyone near me ever put something like that on Craig's list? Why do I always find some dreamer trying to get $500 above the OEM's asking to cover his shipping costs? Why????

Sorry...I'm back....darn green monster....Congrats again!:D

Holy Cow!! What a find! Never anything close to that on my CL. My typical CL listing under tools is a ryobi 12v drill for about half retail price and needs new battery and charger.
