Today I was using my 12" DeWalt slider normally and it made a terrible noise, then when I released the trigger the blade took a long time to stop. Seems like the electric brake is gone. Anybody had this problem? Where & how could I get this problem fixed?

Thanks
Hans

This happened to me once. Turns out the blade was loose. May not be the case with you but worth a check. Cheap fix if it is

Usually if the brake is not working, it means the brushes are shot. Replacing them is an easy fix.

I agree with Richard..... :)

My Ridgid did the same thing... the blade came loose. Not exactly sure how it happened. I tried tightening it up, but I guess it had spun enough that the arbor nut had slightly scored the blade which made snugging it up impossible. I ultimately replaced the blade and the problem went away.

Feeling just a tad sheepish here - thanks for the great responses. It was simply a loose bolt. Tightened up and all is well.

Cheers
