What are the tell-tale signs when your computer monitor/graphic card is about to fail?
For the last 3-4 months I have had some green line spaced about 2 inches apart and running somewhat diagonally across my computer screen.

Tonight when I got on the computer I find the output on the screen to be very washed out and faded looking. Small print is hard to read.

I have tried to adjust the brightness and contrast controls and the button that resets the monitor back to factory setting to no avail.

Anyone have an guess to what’s going on..

BTW the monitor is 21 inch that came with my Dell system about 4 years ago.

sounds like the monitor is giving up. As monitor prices are low its not worth it to repair the old one. Try it on another system to be sure. Or it might be a loose connection.

Sounds like the monitor is going on you...try it on a different computer to be sure, but I'd be very surprised if it was the video card.

Before you toss the monitor out, go to the Dell site and download the latest driver for your video card and install it. Then check your monitor.
