I turned this today, it is a piece of ambrosia maple with a walnut ring around the mouth.. 8 1/2 wide by 5 high....gloss lacquer....it will be buffed when cured

That's beautiful. Great color, form, and finish.

It appears that you have six overhead lights... Fluorescent? :D

I do have 6 fluorescent lights...and I suck at taking pictures

That is beyond pretty! great form, finish, and such a gorgeous piece of wood. I like your ring treatment around the opening........it compliments the main body well.

This is a superb piece! Nice work!

David, nice form, and a beautiful piece of wood. I think walnut is a natural with Ambrosia maple - it really brings out the color. Nice work!

That a wild piece of wood and your form does it justice. The walnut ring is a nice detail that doesn't detract from the impact of the ambrosia coloration.

Very pretty David! How do you finish the inside, both on this one and others with an opening this size when using lacquer? Spray, brush...??? This one almost looks black, is it just the light/or lack of it?

I hate to be redundant and I could not remember if I had ask you before about your finsih. Can it be had at a retailer or distributor or??
I have been stuck on deft lacquer but I am really curious about the stuff you are using.

Baxter, I use a brush on the inside.....and the color is really close to live

yes, i'm using Mohawk M102-0410 Pre cat gloss 80 sheen
