We have lived in our home for 14 years and have a chronic dust problem. After dusting the ceiling fans in February, I redid it the other day and it looked like rope on the leading edges of the blades.

This occurs in two adjacent rooms in one end of the house and in the closet of one those two rooms. There are windows in both rooms, and wall plugs in both. Clothes in the closet get filthy if hung for long periods of time.

I have thought of it coming around windows (house is brick veneer).

Anyone have any thoughts for source or remediation?

Make sure you're getting enough airflow with your HVAC system, and install an electronic electrostatic air purifier.

What does the dust appear to be made of (mostly)? If it's pollen and such, consider checking seals around door, windows. If it's dander, well, duct tape the dog.

Thanks Dan. I'm wondering if it is coming around things in the attic, like recessed lighting boxes????

We had a lot of dust and found the dryer vent had come off.
