I had some off cuts of cherry and some veneer left over from a few projects and decided my sharpening stones needed a place to stay safe when not under water. So, I made these boxes. They have also given me a good chance to practice my hand cutting of dovetails, and veneering.

In order of build from left to right. First 2 are finished with home brew poly blend, 3rd is finished with danish oil and Shellac.

Looking for suggestions for an inlay pattern for the 4th box yet to be started. I was thinking maybe a Fleur de le... for no reason in particular.

Ooh this was my third compass rose. The first two went on a pair of rockers I made for friends. I decided I wanted one for myself.

Man those are some fine looking boxes for your stones. You will have to invite your friends and neighbors over for a stone box party. :)
