I answered an ad on Craig's list where someone wanted a large mesquite tree removed. The person told me that it was a really large tree, but that it just seemed like it was never going to grow correctly. Okay, no idea what she meant, but I told her that I would come look at it. I arrived to see a smaller tree leaning over a storage shed. I knew that there was no way I was going to risk cutting down the tree.

I rounded the corner of the shed and WOW, this was the weirdest mesquite tree I had ever seen. It apparently had split about 20 plus years ago and 80% of the tree was growing horizontally about 2 feet off of the ground. It was like having a perfect sawhorse under each piece for cutting.

You can see the stump coming out at the base of the tree with the rest of the tree standing upright. I was using an 18" saw and had to cut through the stump from both sides to meet in the middle.

Thought you might like to see the pictures. That is a 5'x8' trailer and we got 2 full loads.
