I've got a gear generation program that will export a dxf or HPGL. When I import into Corel I see hundreds of straight line segments instead of curves. I see the same thing when I import into my 3d programs, but it's not a problem there. Is there a way to convert to a curve? I thought creating an outline would work, but it too has the segments.

This has come up many times. I would do a search of SMC to see what you can find.
In the meantime here's one such discussion. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=26542

Tried a search first, but it wouldn't include dxf because it was too few letters.

Dave,
Use smart fill tool and click anywhere inside the gear.
It will generate filled gear, than select no fill with hairline as cutout. Delete original.
