Hi everyone. I've got a question. I'm thinking this is the SCSM for me. I need to know the distance from the face of the fence, to the back of the slide in the 90 degree setting. I'm designing a table for my shop, and I want to make sure I have enough room to accomodate this saw. If my choice changes in the future, it will probably be a similar size unit. Thanks! Jim.

Jim,

I've got an older ls 1013 about 12 years old but they probably haven't changed much. If nobody has an answer tonight I'll measure mine in the morning.

Here's a pic of the bench I built for mine

19.75" from face to the locking handle on the back. 22.25" if you leave room for the bag that collects dust, it extends beyond the slide

Mine also is 19.75 from face to locking handle. However, pretty much the same, at most 20" with the bag (on mine, about 5 years old).

I love my 1013...I would trade it for a 1214 only!!

Thanks guys!!! I appreciate the help. Now I know I have enough depth. May be a year before I get this thing, but I'm rehabing the shop now, and doing the design for the wall this will be on. I've had to change so many things already, knowing the dimensions for this will really help. Have a great evening! Jim.

Jim see my post 12-07-2004 entitled Modular Drawer Unit. This shows a mitre saw bench that has a movable fence. I think it's pretty neat. Unit moves in 5" incriments and used a 5" aluminum jig bored to accept drill bushings to make the hole spacing. Can handle a board up to 100" left of saw and will be able to move movable fence to right of saw when finished. This will provide 36" of stop fence on that side.
