Having trouble finding a supplier of quality wood 'thins' in the uk or ireland. I know there are many suppliers in the US with top quality wood, but shipping is too expensive to justify a small order.

I've been quoted by a company in the US:

Alder strips 4 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 3/32 in

30 strips = $80 + delivery to uk of $47.70
whereas
250 strips = $550 + del $142.25

Hard to justify the small amount, but i dont need 250 strips!

Anyone know any Uk, Irish or European suppliers?

Or would anyone be interested in a group buy?

Alick

Moran's Wood Components.

www. moranswoodcomponents. co .uk

High quality sign and plaque blanks in ready-finished solid wood - at a reasonable price.

5mm thick slats, 24" by around 4", of various hardwoods including maple, cherry and oak. Pre-finished so all you gave to do is engrave and cut.
Expensive at 8p to 10p per square inch (depending on wood).
Not shown on their website, so you have to phone.

I have used Moran's for some years now - as a happy customer, I have no hesitation in recommending them.
