Material for CMS guards?

I have been less than thrilled with the DC and shroud on my Delta 12" CMS and have been playing with various designs trying to funnel more dust to the port. Anyone have any suggestions for materials to use? I would like it to be flexible and not floppy if that makes sense. I was thinking some sort off rubber like the dish drain pans are made of...Anyone done anything like this?

What about chopping up a cheap rubbermaid bin or garbage can? I think I saw someone turn one into a set of halloween armor, so it seems cheap and formable.
