Larry,

I have a 50 year old Shopsmith and its still working great.

I would suggest you log onto e-Bay, search on "Shopsmith" .... there are always 2 or 3 for sale. I would suggest that $500 for a "bare" machine which would include table saw, saw blade, fence, lathe end and rest, auxilliary end table and a few minor accessories. If there is some rust on the tubes or if the motor and speed changer are not very smooth, price comes down. You can get a complete motor & bearing overhaul from Shopsmith for this side of $200.

A bandsaw or jointer would be worth more. Once again, check on e-Bay.

Regards,

Bryan

Over 50 years there have been several upgrades to the Shopsmith. Recently, they went from the 500 to 510 to 520 versions. I have a set of rails, fence, etc. for the 510 (round rails) version that I upgraded to 520 (flat-sided milled rails). I'd like to get rid of them and would consider giving them away to someone that could use them, if they would pay for the shipping. I'm not sure they would fit on a 50 year-old machine, but Shopsmith could tell you.

This offer applies to anyone.

I gave my brother my shopsmith a couple of years ago - bought it in '89. He has since sold it but could only get $300 for it. He lives in North Dakota so that may have had something to do with it.
