Got in my Hammer A3 31 J/P with Byrd Head and Hammer K3 Comfort. Both are still on the pallets and I'm working to get the A3 31 off first and set up.

Will Post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Ray, Was the byrd head preinstalled by Felder, or did you purchase it as an aftermarket addon?

Felder Installed it. I've read some of the install info on these heads and thought I would let them do it instead of me giving it a go. Also it's a little cheaper having them install it that ordering it from Byrd.

O.k. Here are Some pictures.. I also just picked up a used V-3000 3hp Oneida Cyclone.

I've started Setting up the A3 31 but the K3 is still in Plastic.. It's next.

Wow, that is some really nice equipment. You suck! I hope your new equipment helps you build some great projects.

Congrats! I love my A3-31. I'm just finishing up new kitchen cabinets I have learned to appreciate having a high quality jointer available to put a straight edge on stiles and rails. The whole job goes quicker.

Plus, not having to worry about snipe when thickness planing is an added plus.

Be warned, the manual is confusing, borderline worthless. Be sure to save this bookmark, or download the pdf:

Thanks for the link. The one book that was in English doesn't tell you much and the others are in German.

Hi Ray,

I was playing with the URL and you can move up a level to

http://www.felderusaonline.com/ultimate_guide/

There are two directories, one for the A3-31 and one for the K3. Since you also got the K3 there may be something of interest to you in there.

Ahhh, it looks like you got the byrd head on your jointer/planer. I've heard its available but this is the first time I've seen one. Congratulations.

If you don't mind how much was the Byrd head upgrade?

If you don't mind how much was the Byrd head upgrade?

It was $799 installed but if you call Byrd Tool they sell the head for $900 and you install it yourself. I decided to go ahead and get it for $100 less and them installing and supporting it.

You're going to love that A3-31. I just rolled mine out today to do some jointing and planing in between BS resaw cuts. I grin every time I use it.

I'm still staring at mine on the pallet. I have the Casters on it and the bar to roll it around with and guess I'll get it off the pallet tonight. That thing is deceptively heavy. It's fairly compact and 770lbs.
