Here is a pic of a project I just completed for my son and daughter-in-law. They're still in college, so I wanted something that would knock down. This is from a plan in one of last year's Popular Woodworking issues. Remove the pegs and it becomes 6 flat pieces.
It's in red oak because that was what I had. I made the hidden mortises on the router table and squared the ends. The through mortises are hand cut. Hope you like it.

Dan you should be proud. Not just in this project, but in that you have college students who can use a bookself :p :D That's a good sign, right? Seriously, nice gift idea. I'm sure they'll love it.

As much as my daughter moves around, everything she owns is KD. nice job ,great design.
