Well, deer season came to a close, its been too wet for pheasant, and we have had too much snow in the high country to get to that bear I was tracking...
So I spent a bit of time in the shop http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowbiggrin.gif

First up should be an instantly recognizable design of a coping saw. Slight modifications are: 1" stock, handle on right side to assist in blade rotation. The tension you can put on the blade is unbelievable. I'll likely make a couple more in different sizes :

Next up are a bunch of file handles I made for a bundle of flood rescued files/rasps. An original handle (probably made by my Grandpa) sits second from the lower left and was used as a pattern...the feel of that handle is butter in my hand...gramps did just right.

Another shot of the files. And a mallet...can never have too many mallets http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowbiggrin.gif :

And finally, the worlds ugliest saw till....in an appropriately horrible picture:

Looking forward to more neandering after the first of the year.

Hey Dan,

you know what's uglier than your sawtill? Seeing your saws piled up on the floor...on top of each other...getting mangled!!!

I like the handles as well...and the coping saw? It's become a right of passage for most of us here at SMC! :D

Beautiful work all, Dan. :)

I especially like the home-made OSB used to build the saw till. Did you use a vaccuum press for that or the squeeze method? :p :D ;)

Tom,

I accidently spilled a gallon of glue on a shavings strewn floor after a long session of panel flattening. The resultant mass was dragged onto my driveway, driven over by truck until uniform, and allowed to dry in the Californian sun.

Extraction from the driveway was the most difficult part of the process.

:D:D

Thank you all for the kind words.

The sawtill became a necessity when the saws began multiplying upon my bench. I was aware of handplanes capability to do this, but was rather surprised to see handsaws possess the same ability :p

Dan.
