What would you use to finish flamed box elder. I'm afraid any of the normal oil finishes would turn the red to a brown, but that may not be right. Ideas anybody? thanks

Won't box elder eventually turn brown if not bleached?

You've asked the Million$$ question. I use RCL (rattle can lacquer). There are a few chunks of Box elder on my shelves with plenty of red that were turned 4-5 years ago and no loss of color has occurred. One was green as water is wet and the other was hard as a rock. Turn freely!!:D:D

Faust, I don't know, will it?
Jim, this sounds like the way to go. Any clear hard finish like shellac, or lacquer.

Ray I use rattle can lacquer on my box elder. I have some on the shelf that are 5 yrs old and still have the red the same as they did when I turned them.

Thanks Bernie, I'm heading to Ace in the morning for the rattle can.
