This one is about 5 inches across and 7 tall. Also turned dry. August 09

Thanks John. I try to emulate old fine pottery/china designs, especially the ogee/recurve profiles, then add my own touch to the curves and let the wood tell me what it wants to be.

That is a really nice piece Mike. Wood looks great. If it were me I would have turned off the foot but that is just my preference.

I started to turn it off but decided it needed the height, I did hollow the foot.

It went to Vermont as a gift.

Nice form with the subtle curves leading into the natural edge. That's a fine detail to incorporate the darker coloration along the middle circumference. The few pieces of ancient Chinese pottery that I've seen had a longer foot/pedestal that flared slightly toward the bottom. Your interpretation looks at home with the maple bowl.
