View Full Version : 12" offcenter olive bowl?

Can't remember who wanted to see the wood before it was turned but here it is. If you still can't imagine it, just visualize that the grain is running up and down the piece of wood, so basically this piece is orientated the same way it grew.

Rough turn the back side and put a tennon on there.

chuck it up and start on the front side.

Turn the front side.

Couple of coats of finish.

It's a little hard to tell but its actually floating about 3/4 an inch.

I appreciate you showing the process shots and the progression of the piece which is very nice. You used the natural bulge in the timber to full advantage when making the bowl. Cool design and use of interesting gain.

David, wood comes from my private stash. Cut down an olive tree myself.

Alex, Interested is selling a chunk. Anything large in the 12" x 12" x 4" to 8" size. Or larger. Maybe you should let know what you are willing to sell and the sizes. Whatever works best . Thanks, David
